Agreement - Europe - Ford, Fiat team up to make cars in Poland
DETROIT,Mich,USA -Automotive News Europe, by Bradford Wernle -Nov 07, 2005: -- Ford Motor Co. and Fiat Auto S.p.A. have agreed to make small cars in Poland for Europe... The two vehicles include the replacement for the Ford Ka and Fiat 500... Both cars will be made at Fiat's factory in Tychy, Poland. The plant has the capacity for 240,000 units, and production will be divided evenly between the two models... Both companies are looking to the project to help save costs. Europe's brutally competitive car market has been tough on such volume carmakers as Fiat and Ford... Fiat is trying to end a string of money-losing years. Ford also is losing money in Europe...
