A Victorian Road Safety Taskforce recorded 73 offences during a five-day operation on the highway targeting heavy vehicles in the Horsham area... Police issued 48 penalty notices after checking 30 heavy vehicles and nine cars... Transport Workers Union Victoria branch secretary Bill Noonan said more rest stops were needed... "That contributes to logbook offences, creates a tendency to speed and use drugs, which we do not agree with and causes accidents and deaths"...
