NY,USA -The New York Times, by VIKAS BAJAJ -August 1, 2005: -- General Motors lowered base prices on 30 cars and trucks by several hundred to several thousand dollars today, as it wrapped up a two-month discounting campaign that sent sales soaring in June and July... The struggling automaker appears to be hoping that the new prices, which will be available on 2006 models, will help it maintain some of the momentum from its summer promotions while allowing it to climb back to a profit from deep losses in the first half of the year...
