Justice - USA - Man accused of using trucks in loan fraud
With power of attorney for some leased trucks, he used their titles as collateral for a $60,000 loan, deputies say.
St. Petersburg,FL,USA -St. Petersburg Times, by EMILY VASQUEZ -August 3, 2005: -- 39-year-old Hudson man accused of stealing $60,000 worth of dirt in June has been implicated by Pasco County deputies in another swindle... This time, instead of hauling away dump trucks full of dirt from another man's property and then selling it, he used six leased trucks to illegally get his hands on $60,000 straight away, deputies said... Lawrence Paul Roark leased six semitrailer trucks worth $180,000 in November 2003 from First Fleet Corp. as an officer of Hudson trucking company, Dirtworks of Central Florida Inc., deputies said... First Fleet then sent a letter giving him power of attorney so he could execute the title and registration of the vehicles, deputies said. He was to title the trucks in First Fleet's name and register them to Dirtworks...
