Rell: Watching you on television the other day running a meeting of the state bonding commission, it was hard not to be impressed... You were all over the TV again Monday, when you announced a couple of important decisions: 1. Ordering your Department of Motor Vehicles commissioner, Ralph Carpenter, to do whatever he had to do to increase immediately the number of truck-safety inspections his department is doing... Coming on the tragic heels of the horrific accident where a dump truck careened down a steep hill in Avon Friday, ramming a line of 18 cars, killing four and injuring many, your orders to the DMV commish took on a slightly hollow ring — a bit like closing the barn door after the livestock is halfway to Texas...
