TRUCKS' PURCHASE PROSPECTS

* USA - Railroad Offers to Buy Trucks for Cargo
Los Angeles,CAL,USA -The Houston Chronicle (Houston,TX), by ALEX VEIGA -May 8, 2007: -- Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. said Tuesday it would invest more than $75 million to buy cleaner-burning trucks for hauling cargo containers from the nation's largest port complex to a proposed rail transfer hub... The Fort Worth, Texas-based railroad operator has been trying to generate community support in favor of building the facility, dubbed the Southern California International Gateway... Some residents have raised concerns over the potential for pollution and noise from truck traffic moving between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and the proposed facility, north of Terminal Island and about four miles from the adjacent ports... To help ease those concerns, the company said it was prepared to purchase a fleet of new trucks to reduce fuel emissions. The trucks would be limited to travel on nonresidential routes, the company said...

Sources said that all duties and taxes on the import of these trucks would be paid. Only five years old trucks would be imported, the sources said... Sources said that presently Pakistan trucking industry was based on almost 600,000 non-Euro-3 trucks, causing havoc to environment and infrastructure...

Prototypes of the new combat truck, which has showed a great deal of success in withstanding roadside bombs, have been used in Iraq since 2004... The Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected (MRAP) vehicles were built by Force Protections Industries of South Carolina. During the last month, 400 more vehicles have been contracted for from that company, as well as Oshkosh Truck Corporation and three other firms...

PURCHASES * USA - Modine Wins $6.2 Million Order from Oshkosh Truck

To Supply Powertrain Cooling for New U.S. Marine Corps Heavy-Payload Trucks

Racine,Wis,USA -BUSINESS WIRE -26 Feb 2007: -- Modine Manufacturing Company, a diversified global leader in thermal management technology and solutions, announced today it has received a six year order valued at more than $6.2 million in the aggregate from Oshkosh Truck Corporation, to provide the powertrain cooling modules for the next generation U.S. Marine Corps’ heavy-payload truck fleet. Modine will supply a module, including a radiator, charge air cooler, and two oil coolers for each of the new Logistic Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR) trucks. The Marine Corps could purchase up to 1,900 of the new cargo, wrecker and fifth-wheel LVSR variants over the next six years.
