PICKUP TRUCKMAKERS NEWS USA: * Ford - * ... They are more efficient than they once were

* Michigan - Rounding up the latest from Ford

-- Ford Motor Co. has been busy of late, revealing 2016 model enhancements for its F-150 pickup, along with new camera technology options for its Super Duty line of trucks, while offering details on a series of research projects aimed at everything from autonomous vehicle testing to uncovering the daily habits of fleet drivers... A new split-view camera feature will be available on Ford's 2016 Super Duty model to help drivers see traffic and obstacles that enter the vehicle’s path from the side by displaying a 180-degree view of the area in front of or behind a vehicle. Split view uses real-time video feeds from 1-megapixel wide-angle lens cameras in the grille and tailgate. A tri-panel display in the 8-inch screen helps customers understand quickly whether an obstacle is coming from either side or straight on. It automatically shuts off when vehicle speed reaches 6.2 mph...

* New York - 5 Trucks and SUVs with absolutely terrible gas mileage

-- Pickup trucks, vans, crossovers and SUVs are more efficient than they once were, but that isn't saying much... The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute found that cars and light trucks purchased in 2014 got an average of 25.4 miles to the gallon. That's still less than halfway to the EPA and Department of Transportation's goal that it set back in 2012, but it beats the roughly 19 miles per gallon that the Department of Transportation measured for the same pool of vehicles in 1995. It's also closing in on double the average mileage of the light-duty vehicles on U.S. roads in 1980...

The World's biggest pickup truck

Move over International CXT it's the Volvo Very Large Pickup

Australia -BigLorryBlog (UK) -November 4, 2010: ... Says Gazza 'Two Hats' Richards, Volvo and Mack's national manager for product management and promotion down-under. "Volvo reveals a new conventional..a medium duty pickup no less - or a 'big Ute' in Aussie speak!!
Gary continues: "In reality, I have NO idea what it is (or who built it) but I am sure someone will tell us all about this very impressive mod on a VHD !! " So maybe it should be called a VLP? (For Volvo LARGE pickup)
Well I can see this putting the kitty amongst when the good folk at International see it. After all they robably thought THEY had the World's biggest production pickup and here it is!

The World's Biggest Pick-up Truck! * USA: "International CXT"

Ever found yourself wondering who makes the world’s biggest pick-up truck? It’s the mighty International CXT pictured above

USA -Biglorryblog (UK) -22 Sept 2007: -- Typical Japanese pick-up carries a one-tonne payload and isn't much bigger than a decent-sized saloon car. Well this baby’s air-ride cab stands nine foot off the ground and in the load bed of the massive 4x4 you can carry a cool six tonnes... Not that it will be a chore to drive either, having a five speed Allison automatic gearbox and the choice of all sorts of fancy interior trim options including individual leather trimmed bucket seats and DVD and satellite radio to complete this premiere performance vehicle. Of course you’ll need to have just under £60,000 to afford one but what the heck, you WILL have the biggest, toughest most extreme pick-up truck in the world. The only problem is then to find somewhere to park it...but with this off-road capability you can probably leave it anywhere you like...
