BRIBERY * USA: For lenient trucks inspections

* Texas - Trucking co. accused of bribing SAPD officers for near-perfect inspection rate

--- A two-year bribery investigation has ended with the arrest of a San Antonio police officer. A 15-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department is accused of taking thousands of dollars from a trucking company in exchange for lenient vehicle inspections... Details have not surfaced about what exactly happened during the inspections, but theoretically, dangerous trucks were allowed on the road endangering other drivers... Officers are supposed to look for everything from tired drivers to critical safety components, like brakes and steering. That's why the department said that they took the case so seriously... SAPD described what supposedly went on for two years between one of its officers and an Atascosa-based trucking company as “a relationship” that left of trail of near-perfect inspections...
