* KwaZulu-Natal - Trucking woes aired ahead of march
--- Residents of Glenwood and Umbilo came together to discuss how they could fight the growth of trucking to the port, which was bringing crime and grime to their communities... Earthlife said trucking had brought with it an increase in pollution and crime... Environmental activist, Desmond D’Sa, said trucks in the area posed a danger to residents because they were sometimes poorly maintained and crashed into homes, killing people. He said the trucks also increased noise pollution including at night... A resident who has lived in the Glenwood area for more than 30 years said inefficiencies at the container terminal were adding to the congestion on the roads... Residents and the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) were planning a march today in Langeberg Road, near Durban’s container terminal... Transnet National Ports Authority said it was aware of the protest...
