* Nevada - Tennessee best state for small motor carriers; California worst, survey says

-- Small trucking companies grumble that federal regulation is pushing them out of business, but a new survey shows which states are also making it harder for owner-operators and small fleet operators to keep rolling... Tennessee topped the list of best states to own a smaller-sized trucking firm in the U.S. and California trailed behind in last place, according to a survey conducted by alternative financing operation Merchant Cash USA... The survey polled 3,287 employees in the industry, questioning them on various indicators including the cost of parking overnight state by state, fees and regulations in particular states and how friendly states are to drivers... Tennessee, Washington, Oklahoma, Texas and Indiana topped the list among the best states to own a small trucking operation. California, Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey and Massachusetts ranked in the bottom five...
