* Ohio - Troopers, truckers uniting to shine a spotlight on dark issue of human trafficking


-- The Ohio Highway Patrol is partnering with the trucking industry in an effort to raise awareness of human trafficking. Troopers believe that alert truckers can provide information leading to the rescue of young girls who have been forced into prostitution... The state of Ohio will start requiring truck driving schools to include course instruction on human trafficking. The requirement applies only to drivers getting a commercial driver’s licence... It’s believed to be the first of its kind across the nation. Starting in July, trucking schools must include course instruction on human trafficking for entry-level drivers who are obtaining their commercial licenses... The idea is simple: Truckers are the eyes and ears of the highways and interstate. Educate them on the problem of human trafficking and provide easy ways to report suspicious activity and vehicles to authorities... The Canton post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (located in Jackson Township near the Akron-Canton Airport) is involved in the effort...
