* Chennai - Ashok Leyland bags $200-million truck deal from African country
-- Chennai-based truckmaker Ashok Leyland, has bagged its largest-ever contract in a deal with West-African country Cote DIvoire for supply of 3,600 trucks and buses. The deal has been valued at Rs 1,335 crore ($200 million). The vehicles will be delivered over the next one year... The company's plant in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven Emirates, has helped expand in West Asia and Africa. Gopal Srinivasan, the company's Chief Financial Officer, had said during the June quarter results that the company will set up bus assembly plants in Africa to build the local market... Shares of Ashok Leyland climbed over 3 per cent on Friday after the company said it had bagged an order worth $200 million from Cote D'Ivoire. In reaction to the development, the scrip gained 3.66 per cent to hit a high of Rs 97.50 on the BSE...

* Delhi - Daimler sells more than 30,000 BharatBenz trucks
-- Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has sold more than 30,000 BharatBenz trucks in the domestic market and continues to add more export destinations after the German truck maker made India its global production hub... DICV, the Indian arm of Daimler AG, has seen 20 per cent growth in sales at 3,600 units during the September quarter. Though its sales grew, market share fell to 5.2 per cent from 6.2 per cent in an expanding truck market...
