Ankara found the fees imposed on Turkish trucks too high and asked for a reduction. Iran requested time to consider the issue, but did not come up with an offer, pushing Turkey to raise the fees on each Iranian truck. Observers warn that the dispute may continue for weeks to come. Turkish trucks have been using Iran as a transit route in order to reach the Turkic republics. Late on Friday Turkey increased the fees on Iranian trucks to $750; however, it resulted in additional costs for Turkey. On Saturday Iran raised the fees to $1,500 per Turkish truck in response to Turkey's action, extending the dispute. Following this, the Turkish side countered by increasing the fees on Iranian trucks to $1,500. Iran is now planning to boost the entry fee per truck to $2,250, a source informed Today's Zaman...
