* New Jersey / USA - Compressed Natural Gas reduces recycling costs

(Video: Compressed natural gas vehicle progressive waste solutions)
Trenton,NJ,USA -SustainaBlog -10 Ocy 2014: -- Most of the trucks used in recycling are diesel powered. Diesel engines are rugged and last a long time in heavy duty use. But diesel trucs cost more to buy than their gas powered cousins, and diesel fuel is more expensive than gas, too. Those extra costs make it harder for recyclers to make a profit... That’s why Progressive Waste Solutions has added 300 CNG (compressed natural gas) powered trucks to its fleet. CNG trucks are less expensive to buy and CNG costs up to 50% less than diesel fuel. Compressed natural gas is clean burning, which means it doesn’t spew particulates into the air like diesel does. It also means there are no harmful combustion by-products to gum up critical internal engine parts or contaminate lubricating oils so the engines have fewer breakdowns and need less downtime for maintenance...

* Ontario / Canada - Stratford fuel station offers CNG locally

Stratford,Perth,Ontario,Canadá -Today's Trucking, by Cortney Cook -Oct 10, 2014: -- Core Fuels, a family-owned company that has been delivering gasoline, diesel and propane around Southwestern Ontario for the past 35 years, has taken a confident leap into the natural-gas pool... Kevin Core he's confident in his investment and choice to provide CNG in addition to gas, diesel and propane because "people are looking for better alternatives to help the environment and they’re also looking for cheaper ways to move things around, so we felt this was a natural way to go about it " ... Core says that they’re encouraging customers to use CNG as an alternative fuel locally before thinking about long-haul transportation, because a CNG-powered truck has less range than a similar-sized diesel... Gord Booker, a sales representative for Freightliner and Team Truck Centre says CNG is “25 percent less efficient than diesel for mileage, but it’s also less money so it’s basically more useful right now for local services” ...
