* Indiana - Trucking Conditions Index indicates extreme pressure on available capacity
Bloomington,IND,USA -Truckinginfo -September 8, 2014: -- FTR’s Trucking Conditions Index increased to a reading of 8.49 for July, one of the highest points this year. The high values reflect rising prices and service lapses caused by the current capacity crisis. FTR says the TCI could go even higher this fall if the economy accelerates as expected... Truck utilization remains within 100 basis points of record levels, meaning that any additional growth in the economy and associated freight will strain capacity even further, pushing shipping rates higher...
* Missouri - North American freight volumes bounce back in August
St. Louis,MISS,USA -The Trucker News Services -9 Sept 2014: -- North American freight volumes bounced back in August from a normal July dip, but did not cause a similar increase in freight spending, according to Cass Information System... Compared to July, spending was down slightly, Cass said... A further increase in freight activity is expected in September as holiday goods begin to flow into to the country, which likely will strain capacity. So far, however, that has not been a good indicator of higher expenditures, except on the spot rate markets...
