* California - Survivor trucks built to roll through attacks. Bulletproof walls, sniper platform among features

(Photo by Larry Edsall / Special to The Detroit News - Jim DeLozier’s “Survivor Truck” can be a mobile command station or enable a family to live off the grid for two years)
Costa Mesa,CAL,USA -The Detroit News, by Larry Edsall -February 14, 2013: -- DeLozier is a Costa Mesa, Calif.-based "security consultant" who builds and sells what he calls survivor trucks... That's not survivor as in an old vehicle that's endured a lot of time on the road but is still chugging along... That's survivor as in living through biological, chemical or maybe even nuclear warfare, let alone a good old-fashioned shootout... DeLozier's showpiece is a 13-tone, 1980 Chevrolet C-70, a big heavy-duty truck that he's equipped with a 360-degree protective cage, bulletproof walls, a command and communications center, room to sleep as many as 12 in a pinch, assorted storage compartments, and don't forget an armored sniper platform... Among other things, those storage compartments hold medical supplies and enough freeze-dried food for a family like DeLozier's to live for two years without a trip to the grocery. The truck carries its own water purification system — and a 120-gallon water tank — and produces electricity with solar panels (4,135 watts worth) and mobile generators... Air going inside the truck and its various compartments is filtered against contaminants. Need more protection? There are gas masks, chemical suits, self-contained breathing apparatus and night-vision cameras...
