Detroit,MICH,USA -ACME/The Detroit News, by Melissa Burden -August 8, 2012: -- Automakers and suppliers, which axed jobs by the hundreds and thousands during the economic slowdown, are now having trouble filling certain engineering and skilled trades jobs... The U.S. auto industry employed twice as many employees 12 years ago. Kristin Dziczek, director of the Labor and Industry Group for the Center for Automotive Research, said there are now shortages in some areas... Hiring and recruiting managers, educators, state officials and others discussed on Tuesday the shortages, and ways the industry can continue to work to match skills of workers to available jobs...
