Lisle,ILL,USA -Transport Topics -26 March 2012: -- Navistar Defense LLC said it received a $21 million contract from the U.S. Army for more work connected to a January order to upgrade 2,717 MaxxPro Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicles...  The company said the retrofits will be done in West Point, Miss., and work is expected to be completed by the end of May this year... Navistar Defense is a division of truck and engine maker Navistar Inc...


* Illinois - Caterpillar Ramps Up Capacity On Strong Backlog

Peoria,ILL,USA -Forbes -23 March 2012: -- Construction and mining equipment manufacturer maker Caterpillar is busy preparing for the next few years of record growth... The company delivered an exceptional 2011 and looks set to beat these results in 2012. It ended 2011 with a backlog of $29.6 billion, a record and the highest ever for the company. This represents a 59% increase in backlog from 2010 and a 4% gain from the third quarter of 2011. Given the size of its backlog, Caterpillar reckons that it will not be able to deliver on some orders for large mining trucks until 2014. This has forced the company to look for ways where it can increase its capacity to service the extra demand...
