* Forward Air Corporation Reports Third Quarter 2011 Results
- Operating revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 increased 11.7% to $135.7m from $121.5m for the same quarter in 2010. Income from operations was $20.3m for the third quarter of 2011, compared with $15.5m in the prior-year quarter. As a percent of operating revenue, income from operations increased to 15.0% in the third quarter of 2011 from 12.8% for the same quarter last year. Transport Intelligence estimates this market at $54bn. Combined, UPS and FedEx make up the lion's share of the market with an estimated 83.5% combined market share however, according to some industry estimates, these small regional providers currently comprise 2% of the market with expectations of 9%-10% growth for 2011.
