Brussels,Belgium -Truck & Business, by Claude Yvens -2 April 2011: ...  In March, the registrations of tractors increased by 108% for tractors from 23% in carriers of over 16 tons. Registrations of 3.5 to 16 tons per cons, fell 30% compared to March 2010, but the cons-performance is probably due to al the end of the delivery of large orders placed for 2009 and 2010 by Belgacom. Registrations of towed equipment rose 24% in March...


* UK - DAFs triumph in Hanson Cement trial

Rutland,EN,UK -Road Transport, by George Barrow -4 April 2011:  --  Volvo and Mercedes are in danger of missing out on a large new tractor order from Hanson Cement following the trial of a DAF CF85 by company..  Hanson Cement recently added six new CF85s for its Ketton works in Rutland following a year long trial of a demonstrator vehicle from a local dealer...  Fuel saving results from the trial showed the DAF to be above the fleet average of 7.95mpg on 44-tonne quarry work, recording an impressive 8.23mpg during 2010, with the new vehicles improving further still and notching up a 9.0mpg average throughout January...
