Study identifies transportation high priority projects in all modes
Richmond,VA,USA -The Journal of Commerce Online, by R.G. Edmonson -Apr 12, 2011: -- The Virginia Department of Transportation on Monday announced completion of an intermodal freight transportation study and investment strategy for future freight infrastructure. The commonwealth’s effort could be a model for other states, according to Transportation Secretary, Sean T. Connaughton... The study “enabled us to identify projects that are most important to moving nearly $2 trillion worth of freight annually throughout Virginia,” Connaughton said. The work would contribute some $350 billion to the state’s economy and jobs... The study identifies transportation high priority projects in all modes – port, highway, rail, air and marine highway – and includes policies and initiatives to supplement capital investment...
