* Germany - IAA: More optimistic climate

Hanover,Germany -TruckEurope (Belgium) -Sept 2010: -- The IAA show in Hanover is already set to be a success, stated Matthias Wissmann, president of the VDA, the German automobile industry association which organises the event... The positive developments are, it has to be admitted, more discernible at a global level than for Europe alone... Over the first half year, order taking for heavy trucks, often considered to be a precursor in terms of indicators, increased by 80 % compared to 2009 for the German manufacturers. This increase is unevenly divided between internal German demand (up 46%) and export (up 106%)… and has to be considered in the light of a market which plummeted disastrously between 2008 and 2009...


* France - Renault Trucks at transport festival in Lyon

Lyon,France -TruckEurope (Belgium) -1 Oct 2010: -- French manufacturer Renault Trucks is to take part in the transport and mobility festival to be held in Lyon on October 9th. It will be showing two ecological vehicles: a Renault Premium Distribution Hybrys Tech and a Renault Maxity electric. The first enables fuel consumption and CO2 emissions to be reduced by 20%. * The Netherlands - DAF hybrid to go into production

Eindhoven,The Netherlands -TruckEurope, by Claude Yvens -23 Sept 2010: -- DAF will launch production of the LF hybrid before the end of the year. This will be a 12-tonne van unit using parallel hybrid technology with which the vehicle is driven by the diesel engine (an FR EEV of 4.5 litres and 160 bhp) or by the electric engine, or by both. The gearbox is an Eaton Autoshift automatic 6-speed. The first markets will be the Benelux, the UK, France and Germany, based on finance and service contracts with Paccar Financial... * USA - Cummins developing Euro-6 engine

Darlington,IND,USA -TruckEurope (Belgium) -30 Sept 2010: -- The Euro-6 norm will be in force from December 2013. Compared to Euro-5, this norm reduces particulates by 50% and NOx by 77%. Cummins is currently developing a Euro-6 engine at its Darlington technical centre. Cummins will have carried out over 80,000 hours of testing and more than 2 million miles in order to perfect this engine. In the meanwhile, the engine manufacturer has supplied more than 300,000 SCR engines in Europe and more than 750,000 EGR engines in North America...


* Sweden - Scania to supply engines to Doosan Infracore

Stockholm,Sweden -TruckEurope (Belgium) -1 Oct 2010:
-- Scania is to deliver engines to Doosan Infracore, a company specialising in construction equipment. This company is said to have been looking for engines which are ‘reliable, efficient and with a global service network where clients are able to benefit from an excellent level of assistance’. This agreement also enables Scania to have access to the Asiatic construction market. The engines to be supplied are equipped with SCR technology and respond to emissions norms coming into force in 2011...


* UK - August Class 8 Shipments


London,UK -The World Trucks Blog, by Oliver Dixon -October 1, 2010: -- PACCAR up from 2.9 to 4.8 percent, NAV down to 8 percent from 8.7 percent, Cummins down to 38.4 percent from 41.1 percent, Volvo up to 7.3 percent from 6.5 percent and DDC up to 22.5 percent from 22.1 percent. * Sweden - No Change for Volvo, ZF Iran Policy

* Japan - Hino engines receive EPA, CARB OK; warranties expanded

Sacramento,CAL,USA -Fleet Owner -1 Oct 2010: -- All Hino Trucks engines have been given a certification of conformity from the EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) for meeting 2010 emissions regulations, the company announced. In addition, Hino said it has expanded its engine warranty program to cover additional items... Hino’s engines use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to meet the 2010 emissions requirement... Hino has expanded its standard engine warranty to 5 yrs./250,000 mi. All items previously covered by past engine warranties are still covered, the company said. In addition, coverage on fuel injectors, the fuel injection supply pump and the turbocharger have been added...
