* USA - Navistar's "eStar" all-electric truck is now coming off the production line
Warrenville,ILL,USA -Truck News (CAN) -Aug 6, 2010: -- One year after US President, Barack Obama, announced a multi-million-dollar pledge to develop and deploy electric trucks at an Indiana-based Navistar facility, the manufacturer's eStar all-electric truck is now coming off the production line... Navistar officials say the eStar all-electric truck is generating significant interest in the marketplace... "In just the last two months, we've seen a number of customers - large and small - express interest in the eStar all-electric truck," said Mark Aubry, eStar's vice-president of sales and marketing. "We've delivered eStar trucks to FedEx and Pacific Gas & Electric Company, and with vehicle orders in the pipeline, we continue to work toward our goal of building 400 units this year" ... * USA - Navistar's a New Measurement: 'Fluid Economy'
Warrenville,ILL,USA -Truck News, by James Menzies (CAN) -27 July 2010: -- Navistar International would like you to add a new term to your vocabulary: 'Fluid Economy'... One of the strongest selling points behind selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust aftertreatment has been its fuel economy, widely touted to be 5% better than EPA07 models. Navistar, the only truck and engine maker not to use SCR, feels the traditional model of measuring fuel economy is no longer fair, since it measures diesel consumption only and doesn't account for the use of diesel exhaust fluid, a second fluid required by SCR systems... The obvious question is why did International measure its own 13-litre engine against its rivals' 15-litre offerings? The company said it's because that's all that was available at the time and that Freightliner and Kenworth tout their 15-litre truck and engine packages as their most fuel-efficient options. I expect we'll see some reaction soon, particularly from Freightliner, which has never shied away from a PR battle with International...

Others named in the order include Thomas Akers Jr., James McIntosh, James Stanaway, Ernest Stinsa and Michael Schultz... The order finds that at times from 2001 through 2005, Navistar overstated its pre-tax income by about $137 million in several instances of misconduct...
