ZAP Responds to the U.S. Military's Call for Practical Alternative Fuel Technologies

Vernon,WA,USA -Fleet Owner, by Jim Mele -Jun 17, 2010: -- With production set to begin next month, Kenworth Truck Co. rolled out two new 2011 T700 tractors for a press and customer ride-and-drive event at the Paccar Tech Center here. The small fleet of vehicles assembled for the event also included another new KW, the 2011 T440 in an extended cab tractor configuration, as well as a hybrid T370 P&D tractor, T660 day cab and sleeper tractors, a T800 heavy-haul, and a T370 fuel hauler with a new heavier front axle... The new T700s, said to be Kenworth’s most aerodynamic highway design yet, were both configured with the new 75-in. Aerodyne integrated high sleeper and spec’ed for premium on-highway fleet application. One was powered by the all new Paccar MX 13-liter diesel rated at 485 HP , and the other a Cummins ISX15 15-liter rated at 425 HP, both meeting the 2010 EPA emissions standards with SCR and DPF aftertreatment systems...
* USA Export Agency Aids Truck Sales to Chile
Washington,DC,USA -The Journal of Commerce Online, John D. Boyd -Jun 16, 2010: -- Navistar, Mack, Daimler and Deere helping rebuild transport sector after earthquake... U.S. suppliers of heavy trucks and road-building equipment are tapping trade-finance insurance from the Export-Import Bank to help rebuild transportation and telecommunications infrastructure in Chile... The Bank said over the last two months it has approved five medium-term insurance policies through PNC Bank for buyers in Chile of U.S. goods. That country was struck by a magnitude 8.8 earthquake on Feb. 27 that inflicted heavy damage on its transport and communications networks... For Chile, truck manufacturer Navistar -- the Warrenville, Ill., firm that is parent to the International truck line -- will use a $1.7 million Ex-Im policy to export trucks to Maquinarias y Equipos Santa Marta, a large Chilean provider of transportation services... Another $1.7 million policy will be tapped by Deere and Company, Moline, Ill., and Mack Trucks of Allentown, Pa., so they can send dump trucks, loaders and motor graders to earthmoving and excavating firm Constructora Excon... Portland, Ore., exporter Daimler Trucks North America will ship road building equipment to Chilean firm Empresa Constructora de Obras Viales, using $605,591 in Ex-Im trade insurance...
* Detroit Diesel to Increase Production at Mich. Plant
Redford,MICH,USA -Transport Topics -18 June 2010: -- Engine maker Detroit Diesel Corp. said Friday it will spend $194 million to “substantially” increase production at its plant in Redford, Mich... The state of Michigan will contribute $57 million to the effort in tax benefits and other measures, Bloomberg reported. The funds will mainly be spent on cylinder head production... Detroit Diesel will also use the money to redesign facilities, improve infrastructure and purchase machinery, the Wall Street Journal reported. The changes will start next month and be finalized in September 2011... The manufacturer, which is part of Daimler AG, is increasing production due to high demand for its BlueTec diesel engines, the company said...
