Hydrogen Catalyst * USA - Delivers fuel saving

The product could produce significant fuel savings even at the top of the weight range

Huddersfiel,West Yorkshire,UK -Road Transport, by Louise Cole -3 June 2010: -- A new hydrogen catalyst device is being trailed with six logistics firms in the UK, and trial data from Huddersfield University suggests the product could produce significant fuel savings even at the top of the weight range... Fuel Management Services' (FMS) hydrogen injection system, in prototype form, is currently being used by six UK fleets. The product extracts hydrogen from distilled water with no chemical additives and ensures a cleaner diesel burn... The hydrogen is produced on demand as the accelerator is pressed and the excess exhausted so there is no storage of hydrogen in the engine. The tank of distilled water is sufficient for 28 days without being topped up... The product can be retrofitted, with no engine alteration, costs £4,000 (although costs may drop if significant production volume is achieved) and weighs just 25kg... The trials are being validated by Huddersfield University, which says the product can achieve a 17% fuel saving on lighter vehicles and 9%-12% on 44-tonne trucks... FMS says it has solved the problem of heat build-up, which beset some competitor products...
