TRUCK SALES * USA - Class 8 truck sales continue to improve in March
New York,NY,USA -The Trucker News Services -13 April 2010: -- Heavy-duty truck sales in March jumped 21.5 percent from February, and showed the expected modest improvement from the year before... According to figures provided by Ward’s Automotive, March Class 8 sales totaled 9,025 trucks in the United States, up from 7,427 trucks the month before. Sales improved 9.8 percent compared to March 2009, the third consecutive month of year-over-year gains... And, except for last December's year-end rush, the March total was the best in 15 months... * Medium-Duty Truck Sales Rise in March
New York,NY,USA -Light & Medium Truck -19 April 2010: -- Recovery in the medium-duty truck market gathered strength in March as U.S. retail sales in Classes 3-7 increased for the fourth consecutive month, this time by 20.1% over the same month last year, according to WardsAuto.com... Truck makers and their dealers sold 24,130 medium-duty trucks in March, up from 20,089 a year ago. The first-quarter volume was 56,693 units, an 11.2% improvement over the 50,987 sold during the first three months of 2009, Ward’s said... Sales in four of the five gross-vehicle-weight rating classes grew for the month, with only Class 5 posting a minor decline of 1.4%, year-over-year... * Trailer orders jump in March
Columbus,IN,USA -Fleet Owner -Apr 26, 2010: -- Commercial trailer orders jumped 165% in March over March 2009’s numbers, according to ACT Research Co. It is the sixth consecutive month of year-over-year growth and the fourth time the orders have exceeded 100% growth... All nine trailer segments showed improvement in March, ACT said in its latest “State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers,” report. In particular, the report shows dry vans are recording strong growth this year with a year-to-date increase in net orders of 233%. Reefer vans are up 63% year-to-date... The improving orders have pushed total trailer backlogs to their highest levels in 18 months...
