REGULATIONS * UK - Confusion over Careless Driving

London,UK -Roadside Law/Road Transport, by Lucy Wood -March 9, 2010: -- The Department for Transport (DfT) published a consultation on 20 November 2008 to seek views on the proposal. Within the document it was suggested that Careless Driving (driving without due care and attention) could be dealt with by way of a Fixed Penalty Notice in the way that low level speeding and red light offences are currently dealt with... Both the public and the police seem to be confused by what constitutes 'Careless Driving'...Towards the end of last year it was anticipated that the 'fixed penalty' option would be available from early 2010 but as yet there have been no further developments. May be the DfT has seen sense... (Picture: Police rider)
