Tampa,FL,USA -Light & Medium Truck -22 Feb 2010: -- Navistar Inc. wants to compete against Ford Motor Co., General Motors and Dodge in the light-medium weight classes of 4 and 5, one of the company’s top executives said... The light-commercial sector of U.S. truck making is dominated by the Detroit Three... Although GM is shutting down its medium-duty commercial truck business, it will remain a player in the light commercial sectors. Navistar tried to buy GM’s commercial truck business, but the deal fell through in August 2008... A Navistar spokesman declined to provide details about the new product... * Wiscosin - Military orders 1,460 more mine-resistant trucks from Oshkosh Corp., deal worth $640 million
Oshkosh,WIS,USA -AP/CB on line (CAN) -February 23, 2010: -- The military contracts keep coming for Wisconsin-based truck-maker Oshkosh Corp... The latest is a deal for 1,460 heavy-duty military trucks that are specially designed to withstand the blasts of roadside bombs. The company says the contract announced Tuesday is worth $640 million... With the new contract, the Oshkosh, Wis.-based company has now received awards worth $4.7 billion for more than 8,000 of the trucks plus upgrades... Kalamazoo,MICH,USA -Truck News (CAN) -19 Feb 2010: -- Eaton has received a major order for its medium-duty UltraShift HV (Highway Value) automated transmission from Penske Truck Leasing... Penske committed to buying more than 1,800 new Fuller UltraShift HV medium-duty automated transmissions, the companies have announced. They'll be used in International DuraStar trucks with MaxxForce DT engines and placed into Penske's rental fleet... Production of the trucks has already begun and the order will be completed by May, the companies say...* South Caroline - Off-road Tier III Detroit Diesel Series 60 now available
Fort Mill,SC,USA -Truck News (CAN) -19Feb 2010: -- Off-road truckers can now spec' Western Star trucks with the Detroit Diesel Series 60 Tier III engine, the company has announced... The engine is rated at either 425 or 500 hp with 1,475 or 1,550 lb.-ft. of torque and ideal for vocational trucks that will remain off-road in applications such as mining, oil and gas support, steel and paper mills, quarries and landfills.
