Sacramento,CAL,USA -Land Line Magazine -January 12, 2010: -- A bill to suspend implementation of the much ballyhooed California greenhouse gas law has hit a brick wall. However, the issue is likely far from over... The Assembly Natural Resources Committee voted 6-3 Monday, Jan. 11, to reject a bill – AB118 – that sought to put on hold the nearly four-year-old law that is intended to cap greenhouse gas emissions at 1990 levels by 2020... Approved in 2006 as AB32, the law allows the California Air Resources Board to create many new regulations. Specific to trucking, the law gave CARB the authority to formulate several trucking regulations aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions, including the state’s drayage rule and truck retrofit rule...


* Vermont - Heavy Trucks Now Legal On Interstate


Montpelier,VT,USA -Vermont Public Radio, by Bob Kinzel -13 Jan 2010:
-- Governor Jim Douglas, has signed a new bill into law that allows heavy trucks to travel on the interstate... The law goes into effect immediately and Vermont's trucking industry says the measure will help relieve traffic congestion in many of the state's downtown areas... The legislation increases truck weight limits on the interstate to match the limits for state roads. Because the interstate had a lower limit, many trucks were forced to go through downtown areas to travel across the state...
