* Sweden - Scania focuses on ethanol

Stockholm,Sweden -HGV UK -November 27, 2009: -- Scania and Vale Soluções em Energia S.A. (VSE) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the development of new technology for ethanol- and gas-powered industrial engines for the Brazilian market... In addition to supplying basic engines, Scania – which has more than 20 years of experience with ethanol-powered engines – will contribute its expertise in testing and evaluating the new technology... Brazil has a large supply of raw materials such as sugar cane that are used in making alternative fuels that have very low climate impact and do not conflict with food production...


* Germany - Third MAN exec quits as group struggles with scandal


Frankfurt,Germany -AFP —1 Dec 2009: -- The head of the heavy truck unit at German conglomerate MAN has resigned, the group said Monday, becoming the third director to quit as MAN grapples with a scandal over allegedly corrupt practices... Weinmann's resignation took effect immediately... MAN has been slammed by a corruption affair that could cost it up to 300 million euros (450 million dollars) in fines and fiscal sanctions, a report in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily said earlier in the day... According to the newspaper report, MAN expected to also pay a fine of between 200-250 million euros and a tax charge... The group is the subject of a German judicial probe into alleged corruption involving about 10 million euros in foreign payments and around one million euros in Germany... * Germany - Daimler to launch Mitsubishi Fuso trucks in India


Stuttgart,Germany -Press Trust of India/The Business Standard (New Delhi,India) -December 3, 2009:
-- German commercial vehicle maker Daimler today said it would introduce lightweight trucks from Mitsubishi Fuso stable in the Indian market by 2010 as part of its expansion strategy in the country's auto mart... Daimler AG, which holds 85 per cent stake in Japanese auto giant Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, has a commercial vehicles operation in India under Mercedes Benz India... A Daimler AG spokesperson told PTI from Germany that the company would introduce Fuso Canter range of light trucks in India in 2010... Daimler had planned to set up a new plant in Chennai through a joint venture with the Hero Group with an investment of Rs 4,400 crore. However, after the Hero Group pulled out, it decided to go solo and bought out the 40 per cent holding of the Munjals for Rs 78.48 crore in April...
