* Holland - DAF warns over likely price rises

Eindhoven,The Netherlands -Road Transport, by Dominic Perry -4 December 2009: -- DAF is warning that truck prices will have to rise next year to compensate for the fall in Sterling against the Euro, which has pushed the Dutch manufacturer's costs up by more than 36%... If the market cannot stomach the price rises, which are likely across all the manufacturers, he says, then this will affect next year's sales figures... DAF is predicting a total truck market of around 28,000 for 2009, with a similar number likely to be registered next year as well... It believes it will end the year with registration figures of about 8,300 units, pushing its market share from 27% to 30% - a rise of around 10%... (Photo from DAF)


* USA - Joint venture to produce new line of trailers

Louisville,Ky,USA -Fleet Owner -Dec 4, 2009: -- Two custom trailer companies have formed a joint venture to manufacture and sell custom trailers to the motorsports, corporate marketing, training, hospitality, mobile marketing and event marketing industries... Kentucky Trailer, which has produced trailer shells for High Tech Performance Trailers’ aftermarket modification needs, has formally joined with High Tech to design, manufacture and sell the custom trailers, which will be marketed under the name Kentucky-High Tech Performance Trailers... Production of the trailers will transition from Painesville to Kentucky Trailer’s plant in Louisville during 2010. The plant is a 240,000 sq. ft. facility designed specifically for mixed model trailer production...
