CONTROLS * Canada - Three trucking companies lose safety certificates

More to come? All companies owned by same person

Vancouver,BC,CAN -NEWS1130, by Jim Goddard -11 Nov 2009: -- New concerns are being expressed about the safety of B.C.'s trucking industry. Three trucking companies have had their safety certificates revoked, and two others owned by the same person are being audited by the Transportation Ministry... The companies that lost certificates in March are Bayridge Transport, Bytruck Transportation and BA Holdings. Two other companies being audited, Riteline Transport and Prowest Trucking, have 200 trucks on the road... Transportation Minister, Shirley Bond, says, that cancelled safety certificates of three companies triggered the safety audit of Prowest and RiteLine Transport. "When we find a cluster of companies that has a director that is common to all of them. If one of their trucking firms is audited and fails, we then audit all those companies." Bond calls B.C.'s trucking safety standards among the most stringent in Canada... (News1130 file photo - January 2008: Truck safety inspection)
