Winter Weather * USA - Ohio: 700,000 Tons of Salt + 2000 Plow Trucks
OH,USA -33abcWYTV -18 Oct 2009: -- You may not be ready for it, but the Ohio Department of Transportation is gearing up for the wintry weather... ODOT has stocked more than 700,000 tons of salt throughout the state to prepare for the winter weather. Nearly 2000 plow trucks and 3000 trained drivers will be ready to clear the ice and snow across state highways... Last winter, many secondary and side roads went unsalted as state and local officials scrambled for salt, with some even considering buying it from overseas suppliers... In 2007, a harsh winter across the Midwest had depleted stockpiles at salt companies...Labels: winter weather
