TRUCKS' SAFETY * USA - TACT Program Emphasizing Semi-Truck Awareness

Targeting Aggressive Cars and Trucks

The Magic Valley,Idaho,USA -Local News 8, by Aman Chabra -July 17, 2009: -- A new program designed to raise awareness of using caution around semi-truck drivers started Thursday... Thousands of semi-trucks are seen on Idaho's highways and roads every day, and according to Idaho State Police, there are 1,600 crashes involving semi-trucks and smaller vehicles every year... For that reason, Idaho State Police has joined forces with local law enforcement agencies to start the TACT (Targeting Aggressive Cars and Trucks) program in Eastern Idaho... The program involves ISP officers riding along with truck drivers to cite motorists who are driving too aggressively... (See Video)


* Minnesota Trucking-related Fatalities Drop Nearly 18%

Perham,MINN,USA -The Perham Enterprise Bulletin -July 17 2009: -- Cars and trucks collided less often in Minnesota during the past year, resulting in a 17.8% drop in trucking-related fatalities... According to statistics reported in the latest edition of Minnesota Motor Vehicle Crash Facts, published by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the number of truck-related fatalities dropped from 90 in 2007 to 74 in 2008... The number of persons injured in truck-related crashes also went down, dropping 18.3% during the same period... There were 287 fewer truck-related crashes in 2008 vs. 2007, representing a reduction of 6.2%...

Kansas City,Butler,Missouri,USA -UKPA –17 July 2009: -- Gun-toting truck drivers in the United States have been given a new incentive to upgrade their vehicle - a free AK-47 machine gun with every pick-up purchased... Throughout the month of August, all sales at Max Motors in Butler, south of Kansas, will be accompanied by a voucher for a complimentary semi-automatic weapon, owner Mark Muller announced... The dealership - which goes by the slogan "Guns, God, Guts and American Pick-Up Trucks" - shifted an extra 35 cars in one month offering free hand guns...
