* Sweden - Volvo Unveils New Medium-Heavy Engine

Gothenburg,Sweden -Transport Topics -16 June 2009: -- The Volvo Group said it has developed a medium-heavy diesel engine for trucks and buses that is scheduled for launch in 2010... Chief Executive Officer, Leif Johansson, also said the company’s investments in research and technology will remain at high levels in the next few years, when new emissions standards take effect in its major markets, and commented on current market trends... Volvo, the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks, said Monday its North American deliveries fell 62% in May compared with a year ago...


* USA - Mack Trucks deliveries fell 42 percent in May

Macungie,PENN,USA -Le High Valley Livew, by Tom Zanki -June 15, 2009: -- Mack deliveries fell more than 42 percent in May compared to last year as the economic downturn continued to depress demand for heavy trucks in North America, according to a news release issued today... Mack deliveries totaled 865 last month, down 42.4 percent from May 2008 when the company delivered 1,501 trucks... Most of the drop occurred in North America and, to a lesser extent, South America. * USA - Paccar's 2Q Production View Looks Weaker Than Expected

New York,NY,USA -Dow Jonews Newswires/The WSJ, by David Benoit -16 June 2009: ... Paccar's vice chairman, Tom Plimpton, said the economy continues to struggle and estimated second-quarter industrywide truck production in North America and Europe would be down 5% to 10% from the first quarter... Plimpton said that Paccar's production was reflecting that industrywide lower production and added that second-quarter gross margin would be lower than the first quarter as real-estate, automotive and industrial weakness were all weighing...
