Patriot operates tank carrier Florida Rock & Tank Lines, flatbed hauler SunBelt Transport and a real estate business...

Dallas,TX,USA -Transport Topics -6 May 2009: -- Refrigerated carrier Frozen Food Express Industries lost $6.1 million, or 36 cents a share, in the first quarter, compared with a loss of $825,000, or 5 cents, a year ago... Revenue fell 21% to $92.2 million, while revenue excluding fuel surcharges fell 11.4% to $83.1 million, the company said late Tuesday... The larger loss was primarily driven by lower revenue volume and rates along with non-recurring severance incurred in quarter, FFE said in a statement...
* Canada - Trucker Mullen's Profit Sinks
Aldersyde,AB,CAN -The Journal of Commerce Online, by John Gallagher -Apr 29, 2009: -- Canadian trucking company Mullen Group’s profit dipped 38 percent in the first quarter as a result of falling demand for oil and natural gas drilling services in Western Canada and a decrease in general freight hauling... Revenue at the company, which specializes in hauling drilling equipment as well providing truckload, less-than-truckload, and logistics services, fell 13 percent to $259.6 million in the quarter compared with first quarter 2008... Profit in the carrier’s trucking and logistics segment dropped 1.4 percent to $14.1 million on revenue of $87 million, which was down 9.6 percent in the quarter...
