WEATHER TROUBLES * USA - Truckers delayed due to winter weather

Mt. Vernon,VA,USA -The Mr. Vernon Register News, by VANESSA WELCH-30 January 2009: -- Recent conditions in weather have caused an increase in traffic at area travel centers while truck drivers wait until interstates are safer for traveling... Frank Szarek of Hucks Travel Center management said, “It’s hard to get someone out here to clear all the snow, and it was packed here. Everybody was off the road and I think it staggered the trucking industry a little”... Szarek said this was the most traffic he has ever seen on the west side of town due to semis exiting off I-57 and I-64... Many truck drivers waited out conditions at Hucks Travel Center, TA Travel Center, Pilot Travel Center and the Lowe’s parking lot... According to Szarek, traffic was congested from traffic lights in that area to Interstate entrances... During the past week, an increase in drivers were delayed and rested in Mt. Vernon until driving conditions were not as hazardous)
