Shippers say truckload rates are falling faster than prices at Wal-Mart as carriers struggle to keep their own trucks loaded and their wheels on the road. Shippers are happy to accept those lower trucking rates as they work to chisel down their own costs... For transportation managers, the new challenge is to straddle the line between taking advantage of the best rates in decades while making sure their trucking partners are adequately paid - and to improve the odds they both will make it through the recession...
