INFRASTRUCTURES * Canada - Largest-ever road-paving project in Sask begins

This 2008 tender is the largest release in provincial history

Swift Current, Sask. -Today's Trucking -7 Nov 2008: -- The Province of Saskatchewan has tendered out two projects to improve a rough 41-km stretch of Hwy. 32 near Swift Current... The two Hwy. 32 projects include a 21-km 20 section west of Shackleton to west of Lancer, and a 20-km stretch from Grid 649 at Lemsfort to Prelate... Other projects include: Three bridge replacements along the TransCanada west of Chaplin; a 56 km resurfacing project on the TransCanada west of Swift Current to Webb, from Highway #1 to Success, plus other medium projects near Swift Current and Beverley; and a 20-km TransCanada resurfacing project on the eastbound lanes from 5 km west of Piapot to Sidewood...


* Canada - Border gateway side road reopens

Windsor,ONT,CAN -Today's Trucking -7 Nov 2008: -- Completion of construction on the Walker Road-CPR grade separation and the reopening of the roadway to traffic near the Windsor-Detroit border, was announced by the governments of Canada, Ontario and the City of Windsor... This $50-million investment will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow to the border thousands of travellers in Windsor-Essex, Transport Canada said in a press release... Walker Road was closed in August 2007 for construction of the main grade separation. With today's reopening, over 30,000 drivers in Windsor-Essex now have a direct north-south route no longer interrupted by trains...
