INFRASTRUCTURE * New Zealand - Heavy trucks ban on harbour bridge

Both of the northbound clip-on lanes on the Auckland Harbour Bridge are going to be off-limits to heavy trucks from next month

Auckland,NZ -TVNZ by Joseph Flanagan -Jul 3, 2008: -- ... Trucks have not been able to use the outer clip-on lanes since last July to reduce stress on the 50-year-old bridge... But work to strengthen it is now being ramped up... To allow steel bracing to be put in place, the north-bound clip on lanes will be closed to cars six nights a week until December... Heavy trucks travelling north will be banned from using the lanes, and in some cases big rigs will not be able to use the bridge at all during early morning rush hour... Transit maintains the ban is not due to safety concerns...
