* UK - Renault Trucks at the CV Show

* UK - 300,000th truck goes to heavy metal men

Lancashire,UK -Easier Motoring -15 April 2008: -- A DAF XF105 that is the 300,000th truck to be produced at the Leyland Trucks assembly plant in Lancashire is going to heavy plant and machinery movers Mark Armstrong Transport Limited of Carlisle... It’s a top-of-the-range FTS 6x2 model with a trailing rear lift axle and will be plated at 65 tonnes. The truck features the impressive DAF Super Space cab which will provide luxurious accommodation for driver John Todd on the three or four nights that he will spend in it each week... The XF 105 is the flagship of the DAF range and last year was voted ‘European Truck of the Year’ by an international panel of leading transport press editors and journalists. All right hand drive models destined for the UK market are assembled at Leyland...

* Japan - Toyota's truck subsidiary to stop making trucks at a US plant

Tokyo,Japan -PR Inside/AP -17 April 2008: -- Toyota's truck subsidiary Hino Motors Ltd. will stop making trucks at one of its U.S. plants as surging oil prices and the credit crisis squelches demand, a company spokesman said Thursday... Hino, 50.11 percent owned by Japan's top automaker Toyota Motor Corp., produced 4,800 trucks in the fiscal year ended March 31 at the California plant. That plant will continue to make parts for Toyota... By abandoning the California production, Hino's annual production capacity in North America will dip to 4,500 trucks a year from 9,500... Hino's North American sales have declined lately, battered by soaring fuel prices and an economic slowdown set off the subprime mortgage problem. Regional sales for fiscal 2007 dropped 19 percent to about 6,600 trucks from 8,200 trucks the previous year...


* Australia - Isuzu unleashes 500 horsepower monster to broaden range

Melbourne,Australia -ATN --16 April 2008: -- Leading trucking manufacturer Isuzu is expanding its products with the launch of new models and state-of-the-art engines across its FX and Giga range... Isuzu has also made significant improvements to it Giga range, including a new 500 horsepower model – a first for any Japanese manufacturer in the Australian market...According to Isuzu, this is a power jump of 21 percent and an increase in torque of 9.5 percent over the previous model...
