A North Country trucking company has parked 20 of its fleet to save money on fuel..
Gorham,NH,USA -AP/WCAX -April 14, 2008: -- Jeff Webster, of Currier Trucking in Gorham said his trucks are making more money sitting than they are running... Webster said the rising cost of fuel coupled with paper mills in the area going out of business have caught up with his company financially. He's had to lay off as many as 30 people... At over $4 for a gallon of diesel, Webster spends about $1,200 to fill 1 of his trucks. He said he was losing hundreds of dollars every time it made a delivery... Webster said the company has also taken to making only local deliveries...
