TRUCKING INDUSTRY NEWS * USA - Trucking Gains in Stock Surge
New York,NY,USA -AP/Transport Topics -18 Mar 2008: -- Trucking stocks rose Tuesday along with the Dow Jones industrial average, which soared 420 points, its biggest one-day point gain in more than five years, the Associated Press reported... The stock surge was prompted by the Federal Reserve’s three-quarter point reduction of a benchmark interest rate...Trucking stock gains included:
• UPS Inc., ranked No. 1 on the TT 100, which rose $2.29 to $71.90 per share, a 3.3% increase.
• FedEx Corp., ranked No. 2, which jumped $4.37 to $86.92 per share, a 5.3% increase.
• YRC Worldwide, No. 4, rose 17 cents to $12.25, up 1.4%.
• Ryder System, No. 5, rose $3.73 to $62.33, up 6.4%.
• Con-way Inc., No. 6, rose $3.09 to $50.24, up 6.6%.
• J.B. Hunt Transport Services, No. 9, rose $1.66 to $30.76, up 5.7%.
• Landstar System, No. 12, rose $1.40 to $49.40, up 2.9%.
• Werner Enterprises, No. 14, rose 43 cents to $18.50, up 2.4%.
• Pacer International, No. 15, rose 88 cents to $15.23, up 6.1%.
• Arkansas Best Corp., No. 16, rose $1.40 to $31.87, up 4.6%.
• Old Dominion Freight Line, No. 20, rose 90 cents to $30.97, up 3%.
