* UK - Renault Trucks sees off VW and Mercedes at Cliniserve
London,UK -easier motoring -3 January 2008: -- One of the UK’s leading clinical waste management companies Cliniserve, has taken delivery of 27 new Renault Master 120.35 vans, through Renault Trucks distributor, MV Trucks. The Renault Masters will join a number of Renault trucks already on the fleet and will replace the company’s remaining Iveco vans. This replacement means that, by the end of the year, Cliniserve will have an all Renault fleet of 70 vehicles. The important conquest deal for Renault Trucks and MV Trucks was won against Volkswagen and Mercedes...
* Czech - Tatra tests market for Dakar back-up trucks
Prague,Czech-Motoring (South Africa) -January 3, 2008: -- Czech truckmaker Tatra is to investigate the potential market for factory-built international rally-raid and rally assistance FIA category T4 and T5 vehicles... To gauge response, it has supplied Bowler Off-Road Ltd, UK designers and builders of the Range Rover Sport-based Nemesis race vehicle, with a Tatra prototype T5 class support truck for the 2008 Dakar rally that will start from Lisbon this weekend... Tatra has long been a support vehicle of choice for rally-raid and marathon competitors and its vehicles have taken the T4 race category six times, as well as numerous class wins, in the hands of experienced Czech drivers Karel and Alex Loprais and Tomas Tomeek... * PSA Peugeot Citroen to Build Plant in Kaluga, Russia
Paris,France -easier motoring (London,UK) -2 January 2008: -- PSA Peugeot Citroen has notified the Russian authorities of its decision to build a plant in the city of Kaluga, 180 kilometres southwest of Moscow... Scheduled to come on stream in 2010, the new factory will produce vehicles in the midsize segment, which represents nearly 60% of all sales in the fast expanding Russian market... The new facility is central to PSA Peugeot Citroen's development strategy in Russia, considered to be a priority growth market. The Group plans to sell 100,000 Peugeot and Citroen vehicles in Russia in 2010, with a commitment to eventually raising this number to 300,000 a year...
