Council approves ordinance that raises fines for commercial vehicles parked illegally
Fountain Valley,CAL,USA -The Orange County Register, by JULIE ANNE INES -December 6, 2007: -- Big rigs that come to the city for bargain parking may soon have to roll out... The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to transform current commercial vehicle regulations by adopting an ordinance that would prohibit parking and would raise the fines for doing so from $49 to $100... After getting numerous complaints from residents and area businesses about trucks obstructing views by their homes and blocking business traffic, Lt. Mike Simko, traffic bureau commander for the Fountain Valley Police Department, did a bit of investigating... He found that trucks were able to park in the city because of a loophole in the city code that states that trucks are allowed to park on designated truck routes during the daytime...
