PROTEST * USA - Local Trucking Company Joins Coalition Against Diesel Prices

Damariscotta,ME,USA -The Lincoln County News, by Kim Fletcher -28 Nov 2007: -- Yankee Pride trucking company owner Larry Sidelinger of Nobleboro has joined a statewide grassroots coalition of truckers to lobby for lower fuel prices... "If we don't do something," he said, "we're not going to be here much longer. We're being buried by the high cost of fuel. What's happening is a sin"... On Nov. 17 in Lincoln, Sidelinger and more than 400 truckers from the Professional Loggers Council, and the independent owners and operators, joined together to form the Coalition to Lower Fuel Prices in Maine. Locally, he's mobilizing truckers to attend a regional open public meeting planned for Sat., Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. at the American Legion's Wells Hussey Post in Damariscotta. The ultimate goal is to pressure Governor Baldacci and the Legislature to investigate ways to help truckers stay on the roads by easing tax burdens on fuel and equipment...
