* ANSA Logistics and DAF seek optimum environmental gains
Derby,UK -Easier Motoring -2 October 2007: -- Leading car delivery company Ansa Logistics has begun a comprehensive evaluation programme aimed at determining the optimum vehicle platform for its 155-strong car transporter fleet... The six-month long exercise is based on a DAF CF85 equipped with a range of environmental and performance enhancing features. The work is being carried out in collaboration with DAF and the supplying dealer, Imperial Commercials in Derby...

UK -Easier Motoring -2 October 2007: -- Privately-owned distribution company Maxi Haulage Limited is operating three new Volvo FE 18 tonne GVW 4x2 rigids on high-mileage, shared-user contracts out of their Warwick RDC... The FE’s will be covering around 140,000 kms per year transporting specialised automotive lubricants and also industrial and domestic flooring rolls on behalf of several blue-chip national companies...

London,UK -Easier Motoring -2 October 2007: -- The London Low Emission Zone (LLEZ) will come into operation from 4 February 2008, and if you own a Euro I or II HGV vehicle, regardless of age, you will need either an RPC (Reduced Pollution Certificate) or LEC (Low Emissions Certificate) to avoid the £200 daily charge or a £1,000 fine... VOSA strongly advises those operators whose vehicles will be affected in February 2008 – and who have either had a certified abatement device fitted to their vehicle or a Euro I or II engine that is referenced on Transport for London’s (TfL) LEC Eligible Engines list – to book their Low Emissions or Reduced Pollution test with VOSA as soon as possible... TfL will automatically be advised by VOSA if a vehicle has passed...

London,UK -Easier Motoring -25 September 2007: -- With only four months to go until Mayor Livingstone’s Low Emission Zone for London starts, some lorry operators are struggling to obtain new vehicles in competition with Eastern European buyers... Investigations by the Freight Transport Association indicate that this is a problem for large and small companies alike, some of which are now being told their vehicles will not be ready until the end of 2008... Industry sources have confirmed that rising demand from Eastern Europe and problems with some of the vehicle components have put a squeeze on supplies of some new vehicles... FTA is working with other stakeholders, including Transport for London, to understand the full extent of the issue and what the implications for the LEZ might be...
