* USA - GM recalls 20,594 SUVs and minivans
Detroit,Mich,USA -The Detroit News -10 Aug 2007: -- General Motors Corp. recalled 20,594 sport-utility vehicles and minivans from the 2001 to 2004 model years to replace fuel tanks that may leak and cause a fire. The recall includes some 2002 to 2004 Chevrolet Venture minivans and Buick Rendezvous SUVs and 2001 to 2004 Pontiac Aztek SUVs and Pontiac Montana minivans, GM told the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration...


* USA - 255,000 tires made in China recalled

A New Jersey importer will recall 255,000 Chinese-made tires, about half of what the company initially estimated, because they lack a safety feature

Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -August 10, 2007: -- Union, N.J.-based Foreign Tire Sales Inc. said Thursday it was recalling the steel-belted radials because they lacked a "gum strip" or contained gum strips that were not adequate... The tires were sold from early 2004 to mid-2006 as replacement tires for SUVs, pickups and vans under the brands Westlake, Compass and YKS... They were manufactured in China by the Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co. Ltd...
