* India - Tata Motors first quarter net profit up 22 percent
Mumbai,India -Reuters -July 31, 2007: -- India's top vehicle maker, Tata Motors Ltd., reported today its June quarter standalone net profit rose 22 percent, as cost-cutting and strong sales of its light trucks and passenger vehicles helped offset higher raw material costs... The New York-listed company, which has about 60 percent of India's $5 billion truck and bus market, said net profit rose to 4.67 billion rupees ($116 million) in the fiscal first quarter to end-June from 3.82 billion a year ago...
* Germany - MAN hopes for progress in Scania deal by year end
Munich,Germany -Reuters -July 31, 2007: -- German truckmaker MAN AG hopes some progress in its plans to link up with Swedish rival Scania can be achieved by the end of the year, but it is not currently in talks and no developments have happened recently, MAN said...
