* UK - A cautionary tale on how NOT to behave in roadworksLondon,UK -from Biglorryblog -15 Aug 2007: -- 80% of roadworkers have been either verbally or even physically abused by motorists, according to the latest survey released by the RAC Foundation... Apparently some 40% of workers are abused on either a daily or weekly basis while 80% of ‘near misses’ recorded at roadworks in the past 12 months are down to poor driver behaviour... Why is BLB not surprised by that? Despite motorway and trunk road maintenance being a vital service for road users, the survey of roadworkers employed by Amey and BEAR Scotland, also reported that of the 81% of roadworkers abused by drivers a third of this abuse involved acts of extreme aggression, including food, bottles and other missiles being hurled at the them from passing vehicles, while some workers said they had even been shot at with air rifles...
